Rachel De La Torre

English Language Learners Paraeducator

I began my education journey in the San Bernardino Unified School District in 2017. I had the privilege to become a work-study student working with Elementary School students while I was getting my bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology from Cal State San Bernardino. During the time of my work study, I worked in an intervention program helping students learn how to read and write from kindergarten to 5th grade. Once I graduated from University, I realized I wanted to continue working with students, hoping to help future generations.

Besides my passion for helping students outside of the classroom. I really enjoy spending my time with my family and friends. Whenever school is not in session, I love to travel outside of the country. I have been to fifteen different countries. I love learning about new cultures and trying new food.

I’ve been with REAL Journey for almost four years now. My first three years I’ve been with iEmpire and I enjoyed working with the Elementary students. This year is my first year at New Vision Middle School, so far it has been a pleasure working with these students and my colleagues. I want to continue working with my English Language Learners (ELs). I hope to continue to help my students progress and become great scholars one day.
