Kevin Carlisle

8th Grade English Teacher

Hello!

My name is Mr. Carlisle, and I am an eighth-grade English Language Arts teacher at New Vision Middle School in Highland, CA.

I used to work various customer service or admin jobs, but finally made the jump into teaching. As I was getting my teaching credential, I subbed for the Colton District. I was quickly and repeatedly asked to work long term assignments that usually spanned a semester. It was what solidified my desire to teach.

Why I Teach -
Honestly, I teach because that is something that has always been something that drew me. I worked a lot of different types of work, usually customer service related and each and every time I found myself becoming the trainer for all new employees. It was a job that no one ever wanted except for me. Teaching for me is just intrinsic and ever pushing me forward with it.
I love seeing these students push themselves to adapt and learn to whole new concepts. In gaining their trust, I have seen students truly grow with their knowledge and want to learn more. That is the key, getting them to WANT to learn is so impactful for me.

Beyond that, I chose teaching English because it is all about either trying to persuade your point or finding the truth of everything around you. I talk with them a lot about life outside of school and just how much English, or simply language, can positively boost their chances in life.  All told, I teach because I love to teach and to see the success of these students is an ever driving desire in me.
